HISTORY & COMMUNITY

Modi’in is Israel’s youngest city where the late Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin laid the cornerstone in 1993 for a new city merging the neighboring communities of Maccabim and Re’ut.

Ideally situated midway between Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, the concept of Modi’in expresses the desire to live in the center of Israel but away from the noisy hustle and bustle, offering beautiful scenery, fresh air and nature to live and raise families living among a diverse population. The city was planned and designed by the well-known architect Moshe Safdie taking into account the highest standards of urban planning, environmental concern and planning for future growth.

Today, Modi’in is a young and rapidly growing city boasting 164 state and state-religious kindergartens, 27 schools, green parks, as well as shopping and entertainment centers and home to over 75,000 citizens.

The average age of Modi’in inhabitants is 32, educated, married, and practices a liberal profession. About 8,000 inhabitants are new immigrants, half of whom immigrated from the former Soviet Union and half from countries such as the United States, South Africa, France, and the UK. Israel’s Housing Ministry has a long-term expansion and construction plan for the city to become the home for 250,000 inhabitants.

The population of Buchman is diverse, many of its residents are from Anglo Saxon origin.  Buchman real estate is in high demand and the most desirable homes have appreciated in value by more that 200% in the past 6 years.

There is a mixture of both religious and secular residents throughout the entire City, with the highest concentration of religious residents in the Buchman, Givat C and Kaiser neighborhoods.
