The National Committee for Planning and Construction of Preferred Housing Complexes approved yesterday (Wednesday) the complementary plan for the Northern Quarter of Lod (TAML/1095B), which includes 5,366 housing units in a diverse mix of buildings ranging from 5-9 stories and towers of 12-22 stories, alongside commercial and employment areas, public buildings, and open spaces. This plan complements Plan 1095A, which was approved in 2023 and includes 1,895 housing units.

The plan for the Northern Quarter of Lod, initiated by the Ministry of Construction and Housing and the Lod Economic Company, covers a total area of approximately 4,445 dunams and creates a new residential quarter that includes approximately 7,200 housing units, commercial and employment areas, public buildings, and open spaces, adjacent to the future metro stations.

Additionally, the plan includes the development of Ayalon Stream Park, integrating the restoration of the stream while adding bicycle paths and restoring historic buildings. Furthermore, within the plan’s framework, a planning regulation of land in the SA and SH neighborhoods was carried out, allowing for the legal settlement of ownership rights for residents living in these neighborhoods. The plan was prepared by Man’ad Architects and managed by Aviv Company.

The Mayor of Lod, Adv. Yair Revivo stated: “This is an important day for the city of Lod with the approval of the Lod North B plan. It is one of the most significant and challenging plans ever approved in Israel, following 25 years of discussions in various committees. Lod North B includes planning elements for residential, industrial, employment, leisure, and cultural spaces alongside urban renewal and extensive public areas. This is a crucial cornerstone in the tremendous development of the city of Lod. This is the time to thank the National Committee for Planning and Construction of Preferred Housing Complexes officials, engineering and planning professionals, and the Lod Economic Company for approving the plan.”
